The Goshen Youth Jazz Band will perform prior to the main stage concert in the Market Shed Bar & Lounge, just inside the main gates. Goshen Youth Jazz Band has performed regionally, including prior performances at Bethel Woods. In April 2012 the band performed at the annual Cherry Blossom Festival, and in 2009 they performed at the National Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony in Washington, DC. The performance will begin at 6:00 p.m.
British soul singer Joe Cocker parlayed Ray Charles-type vocals and an eccentric stage presence into a string of late-'60s hits, suffered in the mid-'70s, and went from tragic figure to well-respected interpreter in the '80s and '90s. His gritty, powerful voice remains one of the most distinctive in rock & roll today.
Cocker entered the big time with a groundbreaking rearrangement of "With a Little Help from My Friends," a Beatles cover, from the Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band album, featuring lead guitar from Jimmy Page. His explosive performance of the song at Woodstock in 1969 was a festival highlight.
Some of his greatest hits include “Feelin’ Alright,” “You Are So Beautiful,” “Delta Lady,” “Cry Me A River,” “The Letter” with Leon Russell, and a duet with Jennifer Warnes “Up Where We Belong,” from the movie An Officer and a Gentleman. His releases have received Grammy Awards, Golden Globes, and Academy Awards. In 2007 he was handed the “Order of the British Empire (OBE).” In short: he’s a legend.
For over thirty years, Huey Lewis and the News have been making and performing music that resonates with people at their core. Whether it is their singing about the daily grind in “Workin' For A Livin'” or lamenting a troubled relationship in “If This Is It”, this is a band that connects with people on a gut level.
In addition to commiserating over life's rough spots, they have also given their millions of worldwide fans a soundtrack for the celebration of life's great moments. The driving rhythm of “Heart of Rock & Roll” sings the praises of the great music being made across the US, while “Stuck With You” offers a love song with a tongue-in-cheek turn of phrase and amazing harmonies. Meanwhile “The Power of Love”, which the band wrote for the hit film Back To The Future, not only went to #1 on the Billboard singles chart, but also was nominated for an Academy Award.
