A program for children and families about dance and music in the Renaissance period, by two costumed dancers (Dorothy Olsson, Kaspar D. Mainz) from the New York Historical Dance Company, along with lutenist Christopher Morrongiello. The presentation will include a brief spoken introduction, demonstrations of dances and musical pieces from the period, and several opportunities for the children to participate in some simple dances. Mr. Morrongiello will also talk about his instruments: the lute, cittern and Renaissance guitar.
Pre-performance Art Activity: Kids come early and participate in a fun Renaissance craft.
The World Stage Series explores and pays tribute to different cultures and traditions through music, dance and other cultural performing arts in order to promte an appreciation and respect for all cultures.
