Theater Stories! will introduce young people in grades K-2 to a variety of opportunities for creative expression through the art form of theater. Each week, we will explore a theme within the performing arts through children's books, followed by related craft, music and movement activities. The themes for each week are:

October 13: Theater is Fun
A literary introduction to the wonderful world of theater.

October 20: Introducing Mr. Shakespeare
Demystify the Bard through a child-friendly introduction to Shakespeare's works and times.

October 27: Under the Big Top
Ladies and gentlemen, children of all ages! Step right up to the cent of the ring as we tame lions, soar through the air, and explore the enchanting world of the circus.

November 3: Behind the Scenes
What goes on behind the stage? Explore set design, lights, and all the behind-the-scenes elements of theater.

November 10: Broadway Musicals
Catch the Broadway bug at this story hour, where we will explore the world of musical theater. No singing experience necessary -- just come ready to have a good time!

November 17: Time to Dance
Who says dance is just for ballerinas? Get a workout, and learn about lots of different kinds of dances, at this week's story hour.

Participation in Theater Stories! will include weekly packets of supplemental arts activities for parents to continue the fun of learning at home. Crafts, games, and other arts exploration opportunities will be included, as well as a list of local arts organizations where parents can plan special outings for a day of arts immersion.

Saturdays at the Woods is an interactive experience for young people in grades K-9 that offers them the opportunity to explore the performing arts in a fun, engaging environment.
