On Thursday, July 24, 2008, Bethel Woods Center for the Arts' youth education program, Experience the Arts, presented a free encore performance by Grammy-Award winners, Terrance Simien and The Zydeco Experience. One of Louisiana's most respected Creole cultural ambassadors, presented their lively and informative "Creole for Kids and The History of Zydeco". Children aged 6 and up from local community groups, schools and camps attended today’s free educational performance. Attendees included children from Winston Day Camp, Sullivan West Central School / Callicoon Youth Group, Monticello Housing Authority, Fallsburg Central School, Orange County Youth Leadership Academy / Orange County Youth Bureau, Town of Bethel Youth Program, Cornell Cooperative Extension 4H and Girl Scout Troop #401 and Rockland Children’s Psychiatric Center / Sullivan County B.O.C.E.S. Simien thrilled his young fans who participated in call and answer songs, and even joined the band on stage to play the frottoir, a metal rubboard that's worn like a vest and is an updated version of an old-fashioned washboard, which has been used in creole music for centuries.

On Thursday, April 3, 2008, The Museum hosted an Arts and Education Conference jointly sponsored by Sullivan County BOCES’ Arts and Education Programs.  Arts administrators and educators from Sullivan and Orange counties participated in workshops and gained insight from keynote speakers including John J. Cimino, founding president and CEO of Creative Leaps International, and Carol Fineberg, former chair for the New York State Alliance for Arts Education.  Arts and Education is transforming teaching strategies through the integration of Arts studies and instruction for K-12 education programs.  Teachers who participated in this program provided valuable insight into how they can incorporate the themes of the museum into their curricula.  The Museum will welcome back these teachers and their students in the coming months.

On Saturday, September 29, 2007, one hundred Sullivan County "Junior" and "Senior" Girl Scouts aged 8 to 17 years, enjoyed a multi-troupe summit at Bethel Woods Center for the Arts.  These young scouts learned about the social, political and cultural transformation of the 1960s and the impact of the Woodstock festival on today’s culture.  Participants also received a tour of the Pavilion Stage, and learned about the experiences of female professionals who work in the music performance industry.

On August 4, 2007, Bethel Woods hosted Youth @ Jazz, an interactive demonstration and jam session for more than 100 students led by premier chamber jazz ensemble, James Emery and the String Trio of New York.  Participants also performed on the Terrace Stage and were guests of Bethel Woods at the evening's Pavilion Stage performance with jazz greats Earl Klugh, Randy Crawford, Joe Sample and the Dave Brubeck Quartet.
