Support The Wall That Heals

In May of 2010, The Wall That Heals, a half-scale replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C., will visit Bethel Woods Center for the Arts. The Wall will be unveiled to the local community on Thursday, May 13, 2010 and will then be on display 24 hours thru Sunday, May 16. Since its dedication, the Wall That Heals has visited more than 250 cities and towns throughout the nation, spreading the Memorial's healing legacy to millions.

View Press Release

The Wall is one of many scheduled Bethel Woods events offering a multi-faceted view of Vietnam and its role in public memory. Other programs will include film, speaker, educational and community initiatives focused on the conflict. In conjunction with these activities, the education department at the Museum at Bethel Woods has developed resources for teachers to help incorporate the exhibit and the Vietnam War in their classrooms. Lesson plans will help students explore the social and political landscape of the decade of the 1960s in order to better understand the complex issues of the time period and how the events of the times affected American citizens.

To host The Wall That Heals and to present these free programs and related activities, a substantial amount of money must be raised to bring this traveling exhibit to Sullivan County. To offset the cost, area Veteran's Groups and public servants have volunteered their assistance and local businesses will offer their financial support.
