Join our Volunteer Team Today!
Joining our team is an excellent way to give back to the community and expand your own horizons! Bethel Woods Volunteers are an integral part of our venue’s and your personal success. The ability to choose your own volunteer assignments from a wide array of opportunities allows our program to attract volunteers with many different interests, skills and schedules. Joining our volunteer team will enable you to make personal and professional connections with our staff and volunteers through the many events and programming with which you will be involved.
 
To apply to be a Bethel Woods Volunteer, please fill out our online application. You will receive an email with details regarding upcoming trainings, which will next take place in the spring of 2013.
 
It is important to note that our volunteer program relies heavily upon email communications and your access to the website www.myvolunteerpage.com to sign up for activities and log your contributed hours. Feel free to contact us if you have any questions or concerns regarding this element of our program.

Opportunities for Bethel woods volunteers
 

While the specifics of each volunteer opportunity vary, there are a few basic qualifications that are constant across the board. Those are:

  • All Bethel Woods Volunteers must be comfortable interacting with guests in any forum listed below
  • Volunteers should plan to contribute about 50 hours or more per year
    •  Volunteer shifts range from 2 hours in the Museum to 6 hours or more at pavilion concerts.
    •  You can meet the 50 hour recommendation through any combination of activities
  • Familiarity with and regular access to a computer and email
  • Completion of the Basic Training and Orientation session
Pavilion Concerts:
  • Provide support services for our guests everywhere from the front gate to the pavilion
  • Usher in the pavilion—be close to the show and help guests enjoy their concert safely (requires additional training)
  • Upon completion of duties, enjoy a complimentary lawn seat!*Contingent upon show logistics
 
Harvest and Wine Festivals
  • Welcome guests and answer questions about the event and venue
  • Lead arts and crafts activities for children
  • Lunch included and a different festival theme every week
    Similar tasks apply to the Holiday Market held in December.
Museum at Bethel Woods:
 
Gallery Assistant
  • Greet, direct, and assist guests from across the country and around the world as they embark on their journey through the 1960s
  • Usher at Event Gallery Performances
Museum Docent Program (requires additional training)
  • Guide guests on custom tours of the Museum and grounds
  • Hands on exploration of how the Woodstock Festival became historic and the social, political and cultural events of the decade
Education Programs: (specific tasks assigned as needed)
  • Film Series: themed films occurring throughout the year
  • World Stage Series: culturally diverse free concerts
  • Saturdays at the Woods: series of performing arts workshops for students in grades K-9 (requires additional training)
  • Summer Stage Series: summer workshops exploring various aspects of the arts
  • School Groups: visits to the Museum including a themed program relating to their gallery experience (requires additional training)
Administrative:
  • Office based opportunities to work with behind the scenes departments to contribute to the expansion, growth and progress of Bethel Woods and the programming offered
    • Research competitors, funding opportunities, topics relevant to our organization
    • Filing and organizational tasks
  • Positions available on committees addressing topics such as Education, Cultural Programming and Museum Collections
