Event Details
Bethel Woods' Music Production Workshop invites adults into a professional recording studio to learn both the art and technical craft behind producing high-quality music. Whether you’re a curious beginner, a musician looking to expand your skill set, or someone interested in exploring audio production more deeply, this program offers an accessible and engaging entry point.
Participants are introduced to the full music production process, from recording and editing to mixing and final production, not only as artists, but through the lens of producers and audio engineers. Working inside the Bethel Woods recording studio, you’ll gain hands-on experience with industry-standard tools and software while building practical skills that can be applied to personal projects or future professional pursuits.
Through guided instruction, participants will explore microphone placement, signal flow, multitrack recording, digital editing and mixing techniques in the Pro Tools digital audio workstation. With mentorship from experienced music industry professionals and educators, Bill Moss and Julian Giaimo, participants build both technical knowledge and creative fluency. Whether your interest lies in recording live instruments, mixing vocals, or simply understanding how great recordings come to life, this program offers a supportive space to develop your skills.
In this workshop, you will:
- Learn effective microphone placement and recording techniques
- Understand signal flow within a mixing console and the recording studio environment
- Edit and arrange audio using professional software
- Explore equalization, dynamics, and effects processing
- Collaborate with fellow participants in a creative studio setting
Do I need to know how to play an instrument?
Yes, this program is for intermediate and advanced musicians. Beginners are welcome to join us for our six-week adult music classes for group lessons and introductory rock band experiences.
Do I need to bring my instrument?
There is a selection of acoustic and electric guitars, three drum kits, keyboards, and amps for use. You are welcome to bring your own, of course.
