What is Project Identity: Open Studios?
Project Identity: Open Studios provides teens aged 14-18 with a unique opportunity to dive into the world of music and media within our creative studio environment. Participants can learn to play instruments or compose music electronically, make digital animations, and collaborate with peers in a supportive setting. More than just a creative arts program, PI Open Studios serves as a welcoming, safe space for youth to connect, express themselves, and grow after school hours.
Where and when does Open Studios Music Production take place?
September 30- December 6 on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6-8pm, and on Saturdays from 12-4pm, at The Studios at Bethel Woods. We require participants to attend on Saturdays, as these are important (and exciting!) informational sessions. Participants can opt into one or both Tuesday and Thursday evenings to work independently on projects (with support from Teaching Artist staff).
Who can participate?
Anyone between the ages 14 and 18.
Who will be on-hand to supervise program participants?
There will always be at least 3 members of the Bethel Woods staff on site to mentor and teach our teen participants for the full duration of the program. These folks will include the programs primary Teaching Artist, guest lecturers, and Program Managers.
How much does it cost?
This program is totally free for participants.
What kind of activities are available?
The Studios are equipped with a state of the art recording studio and musical instruments, from drum kits and guitars to keyboards and microphones. The program will be designed to offer introductory workshops in music production and audio engineering. During Open Studio time, participants will explore creative projects of their choosing, with talented Teaching Artists and trained staff to mentor them along the way.
Is food provided?
There are snacks and water available to all participants during the program.
