Where and when does Project: Identity Open Studios Rock Band take place?
September 26- November 24 on Tuesdays from 6-8pm, and on Saturdays from 10-2pm, at The Studios at Bethel Woods.
Who can participate?
Anyone between the ages 14 and 18. (Grades 7-12)
Do I need to bring an instrument?
All participants are welcome to bring their own instruments or use the equipment at the Studios.
Who will be on-hand to supervise program participants?
There will always be at least 3 members of the Bethel Woods staff on site to mentor and teach our teen participants for the full duration of the program. These folks will include the programs primary Teaching Artist, guest lecturers, and Program Managers.
How much does it cost?
This program is totally free for participants. You are required to apply.
What kind of activities are available?
The program will be designed to offer support and technical instruction for instrumentation, performance, and songwriting. During Open Studio time, bands will explore creative projects of their choosing, with talented Teaching Artists and trained staff to mentor them along the way.
I've already taken a Project: Identity class, can I still join?
Sure! You are welcome to choose a different learning track to unlock new skills or pursue your passions with an independent project guided by our supportive Teaching Artists.
Is food provided?
There are snacks and water available to all participants during the program.
What does intermediate to advanced experience mean?
Students should have experience playing through songs on their own, and be able to read one of the following: chord charts, TAB, or standard music notation.
