Join us in the Event Gallery at Bethel Woods for an evening of live music with Jazz at Jazz at Lincoln Center Presents - New Orleans Songbook: The Spirit of Mardi Gras featuring Luther Allison.
Revel in the soul of New Orleans and the spirit of Mardi Gras with the latest Jazz at Lincoln Center concert celebrating the New Orleans Songbook. Led by acclaimed pianist Luther S. Allison, soulful vocalists, and backed by an equally brilliant band, this concert celebrates the legendary composers and timeless songs that define the Crescent City – best known as the historic epicenter of jazz. From the pioneering sounds of Jelly Roll Morton and Louis Armstrong to the distinctive stylings of Ellis Marsalis and James Black, this celebratory evening of amazing is not to be missed by fans of jazz, New Orleans, and great music.
Of this new project, Luther S. Allison states, "New Orleans is arguably the most important city in the history of Black American Music. The depth of its culture is bar none, and the influence of art from this city has undeniably shaped the development of nearly all genres of music." Allison concludes, "I am honored to pay tribute to my heroes of the New Orleans lineage with such a tremendous band."
In the tradition of classic jazz clubs, seating is arranged cabaret-style and tables may be shared. While seating is not assigned in advance, all tables provide excellent views of the stage. Seating will be thoughtfully arranged by our House Manager on the evening of the performance based on party size and ticket level.
A $25 food and beverage minimum per person will apply. The Event Gallery will open 90 minutes prior to show time for dinner and cocktail service.

As Bethel Woods celebrates its 20th Anniversary, the Event Gallery Concert Series expands to include new artistic experiences that bring audiences closer to the music in intimate and meaningful ways. Presented in partnership with Jazz at Lincoln Center, the 2026 Jazz Series features four thoughtfully curated performances showcasing a diverse lineup of world-class musicians. This cabaret-style series transforms the Event Gallery into a sophisticated jazz club setting, where artistry, atmosphere, and connection come together. Guests will gather at reserved tables and enjoy a cocktail-forward dining experience inspired by the iconic jazz rooms of New York City — offering a more personal way to experience live music and connect with the spirit of jazz.

The Jazz at Lincoln Center Presents touring initiative provides an affordable opportunity to present great jazz programming, featuring up-and-coming musicians who have been identified as rising stars by JALC. About the Artists
About Luther S. Allison (Piano, Music Director): Hailing from Charlotte, North Carolina, Luther S. Allison is a Grammy-winning multi-instrumentalist specializing in piano and drums. He earned his BM in Studio Music & Jazz from the University of Tennessee (2017) and his MM in Jazz Studies from Michigan State University (2019). At 19, he made his professional recording debut with trombonist Michael Dease on Father Figure (Posi-Tone Records) and later recorded on several other Posi-Tone albums. Since moving to NYC, he’s performed at top jazz venues like Dizzy’s, Smalls Jazz Club, and The Jazz Standard, collaborating with artists including Samara Joy, Jazzmeia Horn, and Rodney Whitaker. In addition to teaching at the Brevard Jazz Institute, he has led clinics worldwide. Allison leads his own ensembles, blending his original compositions with the sounds of Black American music and co-leads a project with dancer John Manzari,
