First Timer's Guide

Everything You Need to Know Before You Arrive

Set on the historic grounds of the 1969 Woodstock festival, Bethel Woods is unlike any other venue. Watch our quick guide and check the list below so you arrive prepared.

  • Download the Ticketmaster app & load your ticket before you leave home — don't wait until you're in line. The SafeTix ticket uses a rotating barcode that refreshes every 15 seconds. Screen captures will not work.
  • Bring only a clear bag (12″×12″×6″ max) or a small (5.5″×8.5″) clutch purse
  • WATER: You may bring an empty plastic reusable water bottle (32 oz or less) or up to two factory-sealed plastic water bottles (20 oz. or less) per person. Water refill station next to First Aid office.
  • Empty poster tubes and audio taping equipment are permitted for this event
  • Arrive at least 60 minutes before showtime; heavy gate traffic expected
  • Allow 20+ minutes to walk from parking to the main entry, then more to the Pavilion
  • We are cashless — we accept credit cards, debit cards, and mobile payments (Apple & Google Pay).
  • No re-entry once you exit the venue gates

Early Merchandise & Line Policy

🚫 No Saving Spots in Any Line

This applies to both the entry line and the early merchandise line.

  • Everyone must remain in the line to hold their place.
  • Parties cannot join others who are already in line.
  • Do not leave items to reserve spots. Any items left unattended will be removed and discarded.

Early merchandise sales take place outside the main entrance of the venue starting at 4:30 PM.

This line is separate from the entry line.
🎫 Ticket Holders Only
Only ticket holders may pre-shop for posters. Have your ticket ready for verification at purchase.

Limit one of each poster type per person.
🚗 Take Your Poster Back to the Car
  • Posters and merchandise purchased at the stand outside the main gates may be returned to your vehicle before you enter the venue.
  • Merchandise purchased inside the venue after doors open stays with you — there is no re-entry.
  • Empty poster tubes are allowed into the venue for this event.
⛺ Campers Shopping Early — Read This

Campers heading to early merchandise must take the Camper Shuttle to the MUSEUM CIRCLE STOP and walk to the main gate from there. Early merchandise is not available at the Festival Plaza Gate.

Credit Cards, Debit Cards, and Mobile Payments (Apple & Google Pay) accepted everywhere. Prepaid debit cards are available for purchase at the Museum Shop and can be used throughout the venue.

Frequently Asked Questions

No. There is no saving spots in any line, entry or merchandise. Everyone must remain in the line to hold their place, and parties cannot join others who are already in line. Items left behind to reserve a spot will be removed and discarded.
Early merchandise sales start at 4:30 PM outside the main entrance, in a line separate from the entry line. Only ticket holders may pre-shop for posters — have your ticket ready for verification, with a limit of one of each poster type per person. Three artist merchandise stands also operate inside the venue during the show, in Festival Plaza, near the Horizon Stage, and House Right (west side of the Pavilion).
Yes. Anything you buy at the stand outside the main gates can be returned to your vehicle before you enter. Once you're inside and the doors have opened, there is no re-entry, so merchandise bought inside stays with you for the night. Empty poster tubes are allowed into the venue for this event.
Audio taping and recording equipment is allowed into the venue for this event. Video recording equipment, cameras with detachable lenses, and drones are not permitted.
No re-entry once you exit through the venue gates. Make sure you have everything before entering.
Small personal blankets are permitted on the lawn. Beach-style and Golf-style umbrellas are NOT allowed. Personal folding chairs are not permitted; lawn chair rentals are available on-site or in advance.
A bag check area is available for bags that don't meet the clear bag policy. Space is limited — first come, first served.

Only service animals are permitted. Do not leave animals in vehicles.
No general age requirement. Guests under 18 should be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Guests under 21 observed with alcohol will be ejected, including from parking lots.
Designated area at the rear walkway at the top of the lawn hill only. No smoking on the lawn, in the Pavilion, or on pathways. Includes e-cigarettes, cigars, pipes, and chewing tobacco.
Plan on approximately 20 minutes from parking to the Main Entry gate, plus additional walking to the Pavilion stage. Wear comfortable shoes. A Transportation Assistance Shuttle is available free of charge for guests with mobility needs.
